Our R&D uses Land Pattern Design based on Manufacturer's recommendation and not IPC Standard Land Pattern design. I suggested to shift to IPC but he just ignored me and laughed about it. We are encountering hips of wrong land pattern design since we

Go to http://www.ipc.org and look up IPC-7351 - Generic Requirements for Surface Mount Land Pattern and Design Standard The successor to the IPC-SM-782A is here! The document covers land pattern design for all types of passive and active components

Michael: "C1005" stands for Capacitor 0402. For the package 0603 you need to choose "C1608". This is out of IPC-SM-782. I dont know where its coming from we also deal with 0603 or 0805. IPC uses RLP-numbers (Registered Land Pattern Number) to ident

Hi guys; There are a few points that should be taken in to considerations regarding IPC-SM-782 land pattern and design rules. As a general rule all SMT reflow pattern should be in comply with SM-782 but however for special cases like : * PLCC land

| What to look for that causes tombstoning and the corective action. | Check your land-patterns. If they do not meet IPC standards, change your CAD libraries to IPC (or some other industry accepted standards such as SMTPLUS). If you have "home-gr

I have seen people take old stencils and cut out land patterns, place the component over the land pattern and use a orange stick to move the leads back into place.

We are looking for industry input on solder mask patterns being used with fine ptch BGAs. Undersized mask openings vs. the land/pad, Solder mask defined lands/pads etc. Thank You.

Greetings: I would like to know the common land patterns and aperture shapes that are currently in use. We are doing some research on the same. Please respond to the thread if you have a success story with you current design. Thanks KT

FYI: IPC-SM-782 has been superseded by IPC-7351A, IPC-SM-782 land patterns previously found under the "Manufacturer Part Number" database portion of SM-782 Land Pattern Calculator are no longer maintained by IPC.
