Check the pick position of the component from the feeder, the feeder advancement speed, the type of feeder tape, static interference, and the cavity tolerance or slope of the carrier tape.

The Universal chipshooter (Sanyo) has automatic X-Y pick-up correction as standard. Are the upside-down resistors an issue for inspection purposes? Do you use AOI? Can you really read markings on 0402 resistors?

What is the optimal design for the resistor Net Array 0402 (8 pins)with a 5 mils Stencil th.?

As an AOI operator as well, I can see your point, but what about 0402 parts, and all chip capacitors? These parts are not marked, but I presume you accept those? In relaity, an unmarked resistor is no different to any cap, and you don't worry about t

Hi, I am process engineer of SMT production. We have some strange problemn with tantalum capacitors. 1 case: If tantalum capacitor placed near BGA and one of his legs is connected to one of the BGA balls, after reflow we can see short between two or

Hi guys, I'm a newbie for SMT field. Currently, I'm facing a problem that there were many defects such as tombstone, missing, skewed, billboarding that happened with 1 type component (Resistor 0201) with a specific supplier X (we have many supplier b

Yageo announced their decision to stop marking SMD resistors back in 2013, and since then we have started to see 0603's that aren't marked, but larger sizes - so far - are still showing a value. 0402's have never been marked, and I doubt they ever w

While investigating a routing study for a new bga device, I found the vendor used round 20 mil pads on 0402 decoupling caps. This allows fitting the caps between break out vias on their 1mm pitch BGA. Round pad gives about 8 mils diagonally from pin t

Is the same marking protocol used when identifying 0603, 0402, etc.. components? For instance, would a 27.4K ohm 1% resistor still have four (4) characters to identify if the body color is black? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Daniel, Yes there is such equipment available, I have seen it on the end of both Capacitor & Resistor production lines, but from what I can remember it was custom made. The cap line was testing 0402's. Hope that helps, Rob.
