0603 Solder Beads

Electronics Forum | Mon Nov 01 10:16:42 EST 1999 | Mark Anderson

I am interested in getting some feedback on what different companies are doing to eliminate the solder beading issues on 0603, 0402 chip components using a no-clean process. We are currently incorporating a solder mask removal between the solder lan

| | I am in the process of picking a new resistor network for one of our new board. Since we are new to SMT i would like to get some opinions on networks. Currently we use one molded gullwing type network on our boards with no problems. Other than sp

unmarked chip resistors

Is the industry really moving toward unmarked chip resistors? I've been seeing a lot of unmarked 0603 resistors lately, and when I check the data sheets, all their photos are of marked parts, and they don't say anything about it.

Yageo announced their decision to stop marking SMD resistors back in 2013, and since then we have started to see 0603's that aren't marked, but larger sizes - so far - are still showing a value. 0402's have never been marked, and I doubt they ever w

Non-wettig on chip cap.

Pls. help. Ive problem with non-wetting defect at capacitor termination. I have faced this problem at the 2 kinds of termination. One is chip capacitor 0603 that its outer termination surface composed with 100 Sn (Lead free) and another one is Sta

Cracked ceramic chip capacitors.

Electronics Forum | Fri Apr 11 11:26:09 EDT 2003 | Brian W.

Cracked capacitors usually are not found at ICT. Unless the cap is completely cracked, the capacitance may not change much, and the usual failure mode is a leakage current. This is usually only seen in ESS type testing, when temperature and humidit

Sal, Silly question: Were the parts skewed before they went into the oven? I've chased down a few similar reflow problems in my lifetime, only to find out it was a pick and place problem. Wrong nozzle size, bad nozzle, feeder not advancing all
