Entering the world of Electrolysis Imersion Silver as a board finish. Have two customers...one using Alpha and the other using Sterling as the silver used in the process. What are the differences? What are the process hits (if any) for the two? Any

Has anyone experienced problems lately with excess flux residue left on the board after reflow when using Alpha UP78 OSP paste? We are getting a component failure that the designers are blaming on too much residue. Thanks

Nope, haven't heard anything. I'd check your reflow profile, contact Alpha. Also, UP78 is a very old solderpaste product. I would consider switching to one of their newer products.

All I can say about Alpha and their GOTT-DAMN website is THEY SUCK!! I refuse to register to view product literature... for that reason, Alpha Metals, you won't be looked at for my pb-free paste or bar solder evals.

I use Alpha 857 W.S. for wave is that what you mean? If so, I love this stuff, it solders everything. one downside to it is convection (wave , rework) can dry it out and leave white hazes and even residues at the joints.
