During IPC APEX EXPO 2019, the IPC Education Foundation launched six IPC student chapters at: Auburn, North Carolina State, Sacramento State, Central Carolina Community College, Gwinnett Technical College, and Michigan Technical University. The student chapters at North Carolina State, Central Carolina Community College and Michigan Technical University provide examples of how industry can partner with education institutions to prepare engineering students with knowledge specific to the electronics industry.

The SMTA is pleased to announce three inspiring keynote presentations scheduled during SMTA International 2019. Adam Steltzner, Ph.D., NASA, will keynote SMTA International the morning of Tuesday, September 24 with his presentation “The Right Kind of Crazy: A True Story of Teamwork, Leadership and High Stakes Innovation.” Adam will share the challenges he faced leading the landing team for NASA’s Curiosity Rover on its mission to Mars. Today, Congressman Rob Woodall (R-GA-7) met with executives and employees of IPC member-companies, Hunter Technology in Lawrenceville, Ga. and Viscom in Duluth, Ga., as part of a nationwide effort to discuss with policymakers legislative and regulatory issues that affect the electronics manufacturing industry. During a luncheon at IPC APEX EXPO 2020, the Peter Sarmanian Corporate Recognition Award was presented to TTM Technologies, Inc. and the Stan Plzak Corporate Recognition Award was presented to Continental Automotive.
