Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 13 20:55:46 EDT 2002 | russ

Having just gine through a similar problem myself (with much less equip.) Here are a few things to consider and/or look at Do you have the proper pad size? It should be the same size as the pad on the BGA. Is the board warping during your operati

I would specifically look at the FLX2011 models with a V for vision (they otherwise come with Cyberoptics laser alignment as standard, although that would also work if you are not inspecting BGA balls). They come with software that I think is called

Info on OSP PCBs

Electronics Forum | Fri Jun 01 12:23:22 EDT 2001 | medernach

I've had good and bad experiences with OSP's. First of all, ask yourself, "Why use an OSP?" If you don't need it, don't use it. Solderability is dependent upon the number of thermal passes (the fewer, the better), the thickness of the coating, the

In response to your questions: Is the embrittlement from excess gold in lead / tin solder connections bad? It can be vereeee bad. Does it affect all plating processes the same? Give us a break and read the SMTnet Archives, for instance: BGA prob

Re: Question on Grounding Resistor

Electronics Forum | Wed May 24 11:07:24 EDT 2000 | Travis Slaughter

Use a low wattage resistor. It doesnt take much to dissipate static electricity, but in a emergency hopefully the resistor could act like a fuse, burn up and go open before anyone gets zapped too bad.
