Baking SMT Components

The recommended bake temperature for components in Tape and Reel is 40C. If you use a bake temperature higher than that, the cover tape and other elements of the packaging will degrade to the point that it becomes impossible to reliably use an automa

SMD Moisture Sensitive Devices - Baking using vacuum-bake oven - seeking clarification

At this point, I do not plan to back-fill with nitrogen. I have confirmed that vacuum baking, with the temperature set to 40°C, will result in the chamber %RH being less than 5%.

PCB BAKING

PCB Baking after Wash

Hi Steven, The 24 hrs bake is an overkill according with various J-STDs. Assuming a bake temperature over the 100 Celsius degrees. There are several factors to be considered before deciding the best methodology to wash misprinted board. However,

Cleaning

Using a vapor degreaser with a solvent such as Vertrel, Novec, Techspray 1655, Solstice, etc. may work for you but solvents can attack certain plastics. Should be fine for SMT though. This is assuming you are using a no-clean (RMA) type flux, not wat

Daniel: In response to your questions: * Moisture level (wt%) that may cause delamination in PCBs. - Certainly, it depends, but 100% moisture will not cause delamination of a PCB. [Now, heating that water is another question, isnt it? ;-)] *

Baking time for PCBA rework

Electronics Forum | Mon Feb 04 12:30:25 EST 2002 | fmonette

Dave highlighted all the elements that must be considered to determine the optimal temperature and duration for a pre-rework PCBA bake process. As far as the component is concerned, it really depends if you care about not damaging the package for r

Baking MSL components in vacuum.

Hi, "Baker with controlled humidity 5%" is actually dry cabinet. Using of dry cabinets i.e. ambient temperature baking is preferred. Vacuum will always be better. If you are going to use vacuum chamber, that will be the best method in my opinion.

Baking components at 70 degree

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 17 12:57:26 EDT 2008 | sleech

You are correct. For the 70 deg. C drying temperature to be effective, the relative humidity must be as near to zero as possible. A pulling a vacuum on the chamber is an inexprensive and reliable way to accomplish this. Contrary to some claims, our e
