Electronic Assemblies Manufactuirng - Bake-out ramp rate

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 30 14:24:55 EST 2018 | emeto

I used to bake parts before. After I discovered the drying cabinets, that is not a concern anymore. I strongly recommend you to get one of these and try it. It dries them out pretty quick and keeps very low humidity all the time. No heat applied.

BGA Baking in Reels?

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 01 16:11:08 EST 2008 | operator

They have been having a lot of fallout and they believe it is one of the BGAs that is causing it. I tell all my customers that it is better to stay away from baking if possible and to practice proper storage techniques. But the thing is they insist o

Component Shelf Life

Can anyone please help me out. I am having solderability issues on a 208 pin QFP. I believe that it may be due to the age of the component. The date code states week 50 of 2003 which is not all that far off 5 years. The component was vacuum sealed at

Baking SMT Components

Electronics Forum | Thu Jul 17 13:57:21 EDT 2008 | dphilbrick

The recommended bake temperature for components in Tape and Reel is 40C. If you use a bake temperature higher than that, the cover tape and other elements of the packaging will degrade to the point that it becomes impossible to reliably use an automa

The directive is called RoHS. Meaning that is not only the lead that is the issue. The materials need to whithstand a hihger temperature, not only delta T is an issue (but huge). Moisture sensitive devices: how to handle these? You will see an increa

| Hello Netters, | | I have a customer who wants us to aquaeos wash a PCB after all operations have been performed. The PWB is two layer FR4 with a Transformer, a Multichip Module with Conformal Coating, (6) 11" insulated wires that are tinned on e

Re: moisture in pcb's how is it measured

Electronics Forum | Tue Oct 19 22:43:31 EDT 1999 | Stu Leech

We are deeply involved with this question because we have developed a much faster way to remove moisture from PCB's. PCB's absorb varying amounts of moisture at differing rates. The rate is influenced by the laminate type board configuration , loca

Re: Is baking PCB necessary before solder process?

Electronics Forum | Thu Jul 29 00:23:45 EDT 1999 | ScottM

| Currently, we are baking any PCB before process on SMT, the 'reason' is to dry any possible humidity that could be inner the PCB, it does not matter if the PCB is multilayer or not. We bake PCB's at 107C for 4 hrs and the board must be process into

Micro balls on gold fingers

Electronics Forum | Mon May 18 17:59:06 EDT 1998 | Richard Jackson

I've tried every thing I can think of. Do you have any Ideas? What I have is micro balls on the gold fingers of panelize boards. These balls only appear on the gold finger. Or at least I can only find them on the gold fingers. What I have tried so
