bead blasting conformal coatings

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 18 11:06:49 EST 2014 | cunningham

Does anyone do this? We have a small booth and lots of different kinds of media to try. it will be local stripping of coating on components for rework purposes. My main concern is ESD levels and how best to measure this. Any ideas or any papers o

Batch cleaner not getting PCBs clean and dry

Electronics Forum | Thu Dec 08 22:57:45 EST 2016 | ttheis

I'm not too experienced with this but what about an air-blast with an ionized air source such as an air knife above and below a conveyor to push most of the fluid off of the pcba then run through an oven just above vaporization temperature.

BTU VIP speed configuration

Electronics Forum | Mon Nov 01 09:56:57 EDT 2021 | richardcargill

Update - Solved On talking with BTU they mentioned that if the conveyor is always running full speed then cleaning out the motor brush area with compressed air will cure it. I'm guessing that the carbon dust had encroached onto the encoder. A good b

Electronics Forum | Wed Jun 07 04:57:04 EDT 2000 | Donnie

Well I already told em that this was unacceptable and they don't have very good reps, but that doesn't seem to phase them. I've had nothing but trouble trying to get this implemented into our process and they haven't been a whole lotta help. I'm gonn

Wavesoldering

Electronics Forum | Thu Mar 15 21:29:06 EST 2001 | davef

That you can solder the test points with a little extra flux and a good blast of heat makes me think there is nothing fundamentally wrong. I'd guess there is oxidation on some test points that is a little crustier than others. You might be able t

BGA Underfill

Electronics Forum | Thu Aug 23 20:31:53 EDT 2001 | davef

We never underfill BGA, but then again our products are not blasted into space. Certainly you need to provide enough room for the dispense head to move around the component in the pattern appropriate for the underfill you plan to use. Probably more

no-clean flux removal

Electronics Forum | Fri Jan 21 08:00:09 EST 2005 | Lloyd

I recently saw a brief presentation on selective cleaning using Co2. In basic terms a fine jet of Co2 is blasted onto the desired area of the PCB removing the contamination and supposedly causing no damage to PCB or components. I think it's quite a n

Manual Stencil Cleaning Solvent

Electronics Forum | Fri Oct 14 12:16:14 EDT 2005 | bschreiber

Be careful when using compressed air, it will not only blast it all into the air you breathe, it can also damage the stencil by bending the delicate land mass areas of fine-pitch apertures. I recommend the article SMT Stencil Cleaning: A Decision

SPC control-Wave soldering

Electronics Forum | Fri Aug 07 15:56:56 EDT 2009 | davef

Well, since you've gotten no takers, we'll launch in to this with careful analysis and introspection, fully aware that we're likely to get 'blasted' for any number of reasons. The most critical parameters to monitor for proper wave solder machine pr

Removal of Remnant Coating or Flux from PCB

Electronics Forum | Fri May 17 13:33:45 EDT 2013 | bandjwet

How are you removing the remnant cured coating materials once you scrape. laser ablate or use walnut shells to blast coating material from a PCB? We are using a soft bristled brush or a vacuum source. What about liquids such as cleaning solutions o
