The Nominating and Governance Committee of the IPC Board of Directors presented five candidates for election at the IPC Annual Meeting on February 27, held in conjunction with IPC APEX EXPO 2018 at the San Diego Convention Center. Three candidates were elected as Board officers and will serve two-year terms. Two were elected as new Board members and will serve a four-year term.

The Dieter Bergman IPC Fellowship award was presented to two IPC volunteers at IPC APEX EXPO 2024. The award recipients have fostered a collaborative spirit, made significant contributions to standards development, and have consistently demonstrated a commitment to global standardization efforts. Tiberiu Baranyi and Zhiman Chen were chosen as award recipients as they embody the work ethic and spirit of the late Dieter Bergman, an industry pioneer and icon. As part of the award, they bestowed Dieter Bergman Memorial Scholarships to the university or college of their choice.

IPC announces unanimous ballot approval of IPC-2591, Connected Factory Exchange (CFX) by the 2-17 Connected Factory Initiative Subcommittee. The electronics industry now has an industry standard it can use to quickly and easily implement Industry 4.0 in its manufacturing operations. IPC plans to release this free and open standard to industry in the weeks ahead.

IPC's Design for Excellence (DFX) guidelines document, IPC-2231 provides a framework to establish a design review process for the layout of printed board assemblies.
