Does anyone use reflow profilers? Are they a good investement or is trial and error sufficient? Does anyone have any suggestions on profiles to try? Thanks.

Well that Genius did it on this BGA. It does have a heatsink and absorbs alot of heat. It just stinks because the BGA cost over 1000 and I really can not scrap a board. But that first profile does not look correct for this board with the BGA esp.

Just heard yesterday from my KIC rep that they have a product called KIC vision now. Sits in your oven and does the profiling automatically whenever you tell it to. They also have one called KIC 24/7 which can profile (and assign a PWI) to each board

How does your profile fit the paste manufacturer's specs? It sounds like you could be ramping up a little fast and boiling your non-metal constituents.

Grant, The board maybe the problem but how is your oven working? Is it a convection oven and how many zones (top and bottom)? What does your profile look like? If you are unsure and if you only have one oven, send your board to Soltec or Electrovert
