defects in pcb manufacturing

Hi, I see a huge solder mask shift on chip comp pads. This would result in mid-chip solder balls or solder beads. Overall, the solder mask workmanship is not acceptable. Mask is on pad.

Lead free parts on a leaded assembly

Mario, Thanks for your response. We are building a leaded assembly with hot air leveled Sn/Pb pads on the PCB. In one case the component is a 7.5X5.2X1.8 wire wound ferrite inductor with Au/Sn leads. The second component is an 0808 Tantalum cap,

Solder balls or mid chip beads? Remember IPC classification for Class 2 allows mid chip beads encapsulated in flux. Usually on R's and C's first thing I would do is verify .006 laser stencil 10% reduction and the most critical, The paste must be on t

As stated previous, the following elements all have a effect on solder beading. Solder Paste, stencil apertures(reduction of home plate), stencil thickness, printing parameters, placement height, reflow preheat and soaking slope and dwell, manufactur

To quote a regular here, "Are you sure your washer is set up correctly?" :P He's a WS junkie. This is a really common problem and is discussed here often. Mid chip solder balls (solder beads) are almost always the result of too much paste being dep

Here is some thing that I wrote a while back on solder beading. First what is a Solder Bead? The term solder bead is used to differentiate it from solder balls. A solder bead is a solder ball but its location is normally constant unlike solder bal

Steve, I use homebase apertures as a standard for all chip parts and have no complaints, no solder beading, no issues. I have had to replace almost all stencils ordered previous to my arrival as they all caused defects (7-9mil thickness and 1:1

Good Morning Everyone, We have started limited production runs of RoHS assemblies. Most of them are prototypes for our customers that are converting to Lead Free. We have seen on several assemblies, solder beads under the chip components that are en

Hello, I would like to ask for opinion on an epoxy application. We apply RTV to bond and secure 2 electronic devices on a PCB. But after noticing the RTV bond breaking off during vibration test, our customer has specs in a 5min 2-part epoxy (made
