We had problems with paste drying out when opened for more than a couple of days. We solved this problem by ordering paste in 250 gram quanities. This is about a third of a jar in the same size container.

I hear ya Ray, but I have standard (automatic) solder dispenser that are 700gram modules. Jars have other issues that I have migrated away from... I like your idea of slaving the paste bar code label to the board scanner....

Moisture will condensed on your paste if the temperature different. Solder bead will happen. You can see the jar or cartridge wet when you removed your paste from refrigerator.
