Reflow soldering of Solar panels

Electronics Forum | Wed Apr 21 00:14:10 EDT 2004 | ramanandkini

We wish to use rectangular 4 segment solar panels in our quartz watches & charge the battery. The size of the soalr panel is 18.20mm X 7 mm and the thickness is 1.15mm. The other popular application of this type solar panels is in calculators. These

Shelf Life of Components (solderability)

Electronics Forum | Wed Feb 16 08:15:32 EST 2005 | GS

Thank you Dave, that is almost the asnswers we use to give to our Customers when auditing they ask for component shelf life. But as you can imagine, they whant to see a quick information right on the label (on Reels, on trays, etc) like: Use b

Epoxy on bottom of SMT component

We're not real clear about what you're trying to discuss, because most capacitors are packaged in epoxy with a solderable termination on each end. But lets throw a couple of ideas at the wall and see what sticks. If this epoxy is: * From the capaci

Pin in Paste of screw terminals

Electronics Forum | Mon Aug 03 15:49:31 EDT 2009 | gtemkin

Sounds like the Pin in Paste would be a reflow technique not involving a pot. I'm guessing however the same causes are in play, in that the poorer wetting of the Pb-free allow means it drops out of the joint before it can wet to the terminal. We us

Oxidation on termination of smd chip capacitor

Electronics Forum | Thu Apr 19 02:49:07 EDT 2007 | ray

I observed some black dot or some oxidation occured on chip termination on pcba reflowed fews weeks ago as buffer stock. The solder joint and fillet wetting is good and shinning. It is an acceptable or defect condition per IPC standard/requirement? W

Pin in Paste of screw terminals

Would suggest you have a re-look at your reflow profile. There could possibly be a higher thermal demand to solder the Pb-free version of these screw terminals considering that external plating has changed.

Work out number of pallet needed

Hi, Appreciate someone could advise or forward a format to me how to work out number of pallet needed for wave-solder if the machine speed is at 1.0m/min, volume per month is 4500 sets, pallet length 0.3 meter, conveyor length 5 meter...... Looking

Re: Solderability of fired-silver/platinum/palladium lead terminations

| Yes, norm it is. Look back to February 98 :discussion on this issue. Norm, That discussion does deal with palladium coated leads, but when I read your statement about silver/palladium fired terminations, I'm assuming that you're referring to

Epoxy on bottom of SMT component

Shy, What is your current method of applying adhesive? If the terminals of the component that has adhesive are not wetting ( or not forming a solder joint I think we are talking about ) after reflow, then you must be applying too much adhesive. As

Pin in Paste of screw terminals

Electronics Forum | Sat Aug 01 01:37:07 EDT 2009 | abhinavajmera

I have been working on Pb-free assemblies of screw terminals (terminal blocks). Unlike, other pin-in-paste conducive components, these component has square headed leads. We have been facing issues with the solder dripping into the oven. We were able
