We use a power washer, blow dry, then lightly oil the links with mineral oil. Works great

Thanks Jon! Good to know! I don't think my iron is ever set at 300*C, haha :), so mineral oil is probably not my best bet. I'll try getting some of that copper grease.

You may well find it is the powder used in the gloves. Distributors offer gloves without powder. Also beware of using hand products with Lanolin, Mineral oil, Rose Hip oil, etc around electronics assembly ... solderability issues may crop up and ta

We use copper grease on the bolts of our wave solder machines solder pot. The working temperature is up to 1000degC. I believe that the boiling point of mineral oil is a little over 300degC and you will exceed this with iron temperatures, especially
