Heller MK3 edge chain maintenance

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 13 08:08:41 EST 2014 | cyber_wolf

The manual says to bake the edge chains at 400C to clean them. Is anybody doing this ? I need to take my edge chains to a heat treat facility to clean them ? I don't want to spray oven cleaner on them as they appear to be plated with nickel or so

PCB Delamination in PTH hole

It's not the first thing we think of in looking at your picture. First off, the lack of copper in the region of the red oval makes us think of a plating defect. We don't expect that moisture out-gassing through the barrel wall to show-up on opposite

Dave is correct (as usual). Baking the boards might reduce blowholes but will definitely not eliminate the problem. Back in my hay days we had a huge problem with blowholes and we baked boards 24/7 with very little success in reducing blowholes (ev

Parylene coating - spots defect around via holes & other flat surface

Two things ... A friend in the contract coating business said: "... the board is not being baked out long enough, 30 min is certainly not long enough depending on how many layers this board is, as the vacuum (from the parylene process) is pulling t

Are you talking about small 'volcanos' that burst through PTH solder connections? If so, you have moisture outgassing through the PTH barrels: * Plating on the hole of your bare board is too thin. It should be greater than 1 thou [25um]. * Your bak

Voiding in uBGA's w/blind uvia's in pads

Tony, I'm not sure if even baking will stop the voids if you have gaps in the plating. It probably doesn't take much moisture or even trapped air. I'm not speaking from a lot of direct experience here, so please run the tests and let us know wh

I called a cuppa of indutrial friends, and they concluded that the flex-PCB in question, was being subject too high a oven-baking temperature of 100deg-C...50~60deg-C oven-baking temperature would be more appropriate for flex-PCB, due to its very pad
