What is a typical SMT placement defect rate?

Electronics Forum | Wed Jul 09 14:47:39 EDT 2014 | deanm

I'm looking for a typical SMT placement defect rate from others in the field so I can judge whether or not we are in an acceptable range. If I give you a board with 200 components (0603, 0805, SOICs, 20mil MSOPs, tantalums, DPAKs and a few 20mil fin

I am developing a DOE for evaluating SMT adhesives. I would like to evaluate 3 different vendor dispensing adhesives. I currently have the Heraeus PD955M and the Loctite 3609 and 3618 selected for evaluation. I would like to add another manufactur

IF YOU KNOW OF OR HAVE AN SMT-XXX MODEL PnP maybe you can help! We have an SMT460, basically a good machine but does have some quirks. I'd like to get a few answers to help solve an SOT23 part placement issue. With High speed camera selected for th

That also allows a channel for degassing and also breaks up paste into sections that tend to balance the forces acting on the part. So basically window paning is even better than you might think.

I have to agree with Dave here. Can you compare the datasheet pad recommendations to your design ? It may help to show the forum a picture of the bare PCB pad design along with a pic of the bottom terminations on the part. What Stencil thickness a

Skew error at axis G1F-Y

To me, it sounds like your axis servo is losing steps. Can you get through the calibration steps? Hanwha is who we use for service. I'd say call them if you don't want to just throw parts at it.

Inductor Skew

Molten metal has a high surface tension. If the pads are uneven you can have uneven forces. Decades ago if part were not placed exactly right, they would come out of the oven centered. (or tombstoned)

IP3 QFP Problems - Has anybody had the same probs?

Electronics Forum | Fri Jun 02 17:19:56 EDT 2000 | Big K

I am currently experiencing several problems with QFP's on one of our IP3's. The first problem is with QFP240 devices. We are experiencing a high reject rate with these parts when using vision type 100. What appears to happen is that the vision syste
