We're expereincing issues in our pick and place machine due to what I consider a server warping of the PCB. The PCB is received this way from our PCB manufacturer. Before I push to much, I would like to know options for a cause. The warp is so bad,

Charlie B: You mentioned that you have an air conditioned environment and a RH 0rf 50, baking the boards is predominately done when the history of the PCB delivery and / or previous storage conditions are un known. When I was with a CM, we did this a

Trapped moisture can be a problem, and one standard recommends baking a PCB for a minimum of 4 hours at 93+/- 5.5ºC before conformally coating. [NASA-STD-8739.1, “Workmanship Standard for Staking and Conformal Coating of Printed Wiring Boards and Ele

Yes it is possible, and yes you shouldn't trust boards that have this problem. You're best off baking PCB's this old befor reflow. This looks like barrel cracking, a quick google gives: http://www.eco3.co.uk/e3toolkit/e3toolkit/modules/05/05_04_j_pc

Ianchan, baking as being part of pre-heating is obviously sensless cause the PCB will not maintain any of that heat till soldering. Common reason for prebaking PCBs is getting the moisture out to prevent outgassing, warpage and maybe other defects.

I've seen this warp issue across several different PCB's we assemble. One of the biggest head ache's is getting the boards to transfer between machines, converyors, and inside our pick and place. Due to the warpage, transport between conveyors is dif

We just got a lesson on the effectiveness of heat sealed metalized vapor barrier bags. A customer sent us two bags of 100% saturated PBG components by air freight. This was for a demoisturizing test. When we found the devices 80% dry when they arrive
