Evaluating SMD Adhesives

Weve also had glass diode difficulties- poor adhesion while all other parts are fine (including tall parts). Ive received some interesting information from Heraeus: It seems the newer glues create a much stronger bond to SMDs, except glass diodes.

While there may not be any specific requirement to cleaning prior to coating, cleaning an assembly prior to coating will only serve to increase the reliability and integrity of the coating. Some residues from low-solids fluxes can interact with conf

Solder Ball 'fell off'

We have a situation where our customer returned a device (BGA) with a missing solder ball. The process is Copper-Nickel-Gold-Solderball. EDX revealed that no trace of gold nor solder material (lead-free balls). Could poor Au plating/adhesion cause

First, don't get too excited about the thermal capabilities of conductive epoxy. An epoxy like DuPont CB-100 increases the amount of heat conducted through the barrel, but many over estimate what it can do. Calculations show for a 0.020" drilled

Yes why did the Electroless Nickel layer split this is the ROOT cause. My guess is still that the resist was slightly miss registered over the copper and therefore poor adhesion of the Nickel ensued OR like I said originally the resist had contaminat

The logical course seems like you would just back off on the shot size or go with a smaller diameter nozzle, but if this is something new and you've been running fine up until recently then something has changed. Check the condition of your nozzles.

John: Im here. On "what do ya think about that one!..."??? Mutha, that sounds rats rump [as Dennis Miller says] ugly. On some boards, we paste a cuppla chips on the break-away panels and then torque the chips from the board after cure. We use the
