Standarts in production line

Electronics Forum | Tue Mar 22 06:03:55 EST 2005 | Base

Try the IPC-254x CAMX standards (webstds.ipc.org, no www prefix!). They define a set of generic and process-specific XML messages for equipment to send out all sorts of process-related events. I know there are standardized messages for print, dispens

Hi Evtimov, Try to stay away from GEM or SECS/GEM. It's waaaayyyy to complicated and every vendor has there own interpretation of it when it comes to events and reports that are not commonplace in the semiconductor industry, which is where the GEM-s

When to implement SPI in your SMT line

Electronics Forum | Tue Mar 30 12:18:22 EDT 2021 | chicagoindustrial

Sorry for such a generic response, but you should consider SPI if you are not happy with the results of your printer. That is probably measured by defects at the AOI. SPI machines are quite expensive. I don't see the point of them when you can just b

When to implement SPI in your SMT line

SPI is especially useful when you start going to lower pitch/size components. Best use is inline to identify issues. It is a powerful tool in the right hands and a burden when operated by wrong people. I value it more than the AOI equipment.

Building on what Evtimov said, folks who are not familiar with SPI get freaked out when they first deploy it. You need to have an understanding of whats going on and how to adjust when you get "failures" I would advise that anyone who is g

Leaded and Lead-Free products in single SMT line

Electronics Forum | Thu Sep 01 02:51:31 EDT 2011 | zedor

HI, We currently have two SMT lines, one running leaded products and the other lead-free. There is a recommendation to combine the two to increase the line capacity. What do you think are the pros and cons, is there a risk in contamination ot the

I agree that if information is processed correctly up front in process down stream QA becomes less expensive ie AOI etc as AOI at end of lines is telling you you have made mistakes in up stream. I better to eliminate mistakes or have process to avoid

AOI in the future

Electronics Forum | Mon May 14 09:43:37 EDT 2001 | orbotech

As the face of business changes through revolutionary factors, such as the increasing rate of outsourcing, manufacturers (especially EMS plants) will strive to fine tune their test strategies to ultimately improve and sustain product quality and to r

AOI if needed? I take it your AOI/AXI is not inline. Too bad. Our AOI is the first line of defense against induced errors in the mfg process. It's invaluable. How do you know it's not needed, or that it won't be needed in the future? Do you hav
