Hello, I know I will probably get a dozen "check the archives" answers, but what the heck. What is YOUR typical polarity mark for SMT devices? Do you use silk screen or cut a corner off a pad? Let me know and thanks.

If an OEM and room is available on the PCB....have pin location aids silk screened on the boards. Groups of 10 are typical. might look like 1.........10.........20.........30 continue this around the device. Otherwise, ???

Chris is right. You can do a good visual after placement if you have outline marks on your silk screen. That helps a lot. What size BGAs are you talking about. That would determine how critical you want to get with inspection.

Unfortunately our customers expect this coating on the boards so that is not an option. There must be something that can mark underneath without washing off. The silk screen doesn't wash off
