R&D VaporTech, a subsidiary of IBL Technologies, LLC, today announced that David Suihkonen, Vice President – North America, will present at the upcoming SMTA Dallas September Chapter Meeting, Technical Presentation & Luncheon, scheduled to take place Friday, Sept. 16, 2016. Suihkonen will present “Advances and New Developments in Vapor Phase.” SMTA members, non-members, students and guests are welcome to attend the event, which will be held at Aboca’s Italian Grill in Richardson, TX.

IBL Technologies, LLC has acquired R&D Technical Services of Burnsville, MN. Under the agreement, a subsidiary known as R&D Vaportech has been formed. IBL Technologies will continue to market its premium line of vapor phase reflow machines, while R&D Vaportech will focus on batch vapor phase reflow equipment and rework systems. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

IBL Technologies, LLC will exhibit in Hall A4, Booth 216 at productronica 2017, scheduled to take place Nov. 14 – 17, 2017 at the Messe München in Germany. The IBL team will highlight the VAC745 vapor phase soldering machine and BLC420 reflow vapor phase soldering system.

R&D VaporTech announces that it has been awarded a 2018 NPI Award in the category of Soldering – Other for its new Smartphase Inline Vapor Phase Reflow System. The award was presented to the company during a Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018 ceremony that took place at the San Diego Convention Center during the IPC APEX EXPO. The Smartphase was designed for high volume inline manufacturing.

As of today, the electronic industry is aware of the requirements for their products to be lead free. All components are typically available in lead free quality. This comprises packages like BGAs with BGA solder balls to PCB board finishes like HASL. The suppliers are providing everything that is needed. It is harder to get the old tin leaded (SnPb) components for new applications today, than lead free ones. So why has not everybody changed over fully yet and how can the challenges be overcome? A big concern in this transition process is reflow soldering. The process temperatures for lead free applications became much higher. Related with this is more stress for all the components.
