Hi, Yes, I think this sounds like a form of tomb-stoning, and we used vapor phase until it ended up driving us totally nuts trying to deal with tomb-stoning. We tried everything, and all kinds of stencil apertures. Vapor phase is an amazing process

I would appreciate hearing views on vapour phase soldering particularly in respect to BGA's. I know that they used to use CFC's but apparently this is no longer the case? Can anyone help with some info? Thanks, Alan Brewin

We are currently looking at buying a vapour phase reflow batch oven. We currently use an IR convection batch oven and want to know if there is any advantage in switching over to vapour phase?. I've heard that tomb stoning is a common problem do t

We've had very few tombstone problems but all were fixed by reducing the apertures of the affected components.

What is the boiling point of your vapour phase solvent ?

Why do you want a vapour phase oven? Why not a batch convection oven?

Dear All In future, we will switch our process from Reflow Soldering to Vapour Soldering. Very appreciated if someone can share with me his experince in advantage and disadvantage of using Vapour Machine. Thanks in advance.

Hi Hege Thanks. Now, we are doing an evaluation of vapour process with Rehm.Their system is injection the hot vapour into the chamber in where the PCB is placed. Rehm system is quite impressive and contrast from others. You can try.

VP does work well for BGA Technology but it is not any great improvement on convection reflow. It has been stated in a coulpe of articles that there is no delta T difference with VP from the surface ofthe board and under the BGA. That is not true jus

Do I really need a Vapour Phase Oven or a Nitrogen Oven when soldering PBGA's if my PCB has only 2 to 3 BGA's (ball pitch of 0.5mm to 1.27mm) ? Is the quality of soldering when using an 8-Zone Convective Oven is not acceptable? I have been bombarded
