Conformal Coating Issues

Electronics Forum | Wed May 09 03:13:06 EDT 2012 | umar

I had send my coating board to the test lab for adhesion coating test. 3 times send, the result 3times fail. The coating chemical use is Humiseal 1B31. The process is clean the boards at washing process use the Vigon A200 saponifier mix with DI wate

Dear Scott, You are correct in questioning the chemistry portion of the process. However, I am couriuous as to why you selected DEK as a stencil cleaner. The most important part of any cleaning process is always the chemistry. How you deliver the c

In a nutshell, you should be looking for a chemistry first, then look for a machine. Hopefully, they will be from the same source. | Dear Scott, | You are correct in questioning the chemistry portion of the process. However, I am couriuous as to w

changing from no-clean to clean

I have experience cleaning NC for military boards. The reason for cleaning the NC is due to conformal coating requirements. Zestron Vigon A200 and Atron AC 100, as well as Petroferm Hydrex DX have both been effective at cleaning Alpha UP78 NC paste.

The specific answer depends on what your specific application includes. #1: What are you removing? (solder paste, adhesives) #2: What are you cleaning? (stencils, screens, misprints, pallets) #3: What type of machine are you using? (Spray-in

saponifiers compatible with CPVC

Armakleen is compatible with CPVC as are most aqueous-based chemistries. Armakleen, in its day was a superior chemistry. It was the first of the aqueous blends to offer bright solder joints (earlier saponifiers commonly dulled solder joints). Arma

Kyzen or Zestron?

Well... Some are worse than others... How can you identify that it is caused by uncured mask and not flux residues? The flux is from indium, 3592. Some research in their tech library revealed that either Kyzen or Zestron would work, which is the re

Spray cleaners are poor alternatives to todays ultrasonic stencil cleaners. Ultrasonics are the way to go and you can use rather benign water based chemistries to get the job done. As for screening adhesives and cleaning glue residue with spray wands

Re: Printing Adhesive

Kevin, We are also looking at printing adhesive. Our application involves printing glue on the underside of the board, once it has gone through the dip, axial & radial process. In otherwords, there are leads cut and clinched and we have to mill out
