Hi, Can anyone help explain the benefits/disadvantages of bareboard pcb baking, as part of the pre-heat conditioning, before the bareboard pcb use in SMT production run? The pcb board is 200mm x 240mm panelized pcb board, and has 28 smaller pcb boa

Ianchan, baking as being part of pre-heating is obviously sensless cause the PCB will not maintain any of that heat till soldering. Common reason for prebaking PCBs is getting the moisture out to prevent outgassing, warpage and maybe other defects.

I thought Dan saw the delamination after wash - not baking? What temp are your dryers on the washer set at?

BOARD BAKING SCHEDULE: Bake time depends on the board thickness and construction. For laminated FR4 PCB, we bake between 6 and 24 hours at 100C. ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM: Heating moisture entrapped between the laminations of the board too quickl

I experienced assembled boards delaminated after washed. You know...those old datecode PCBs that I was talking about a few weeks back ? I was forced to use it, and of course prior using it I've baked them. I've baked them at 125 Deg for 4 hours and/

DaveF, Our customer requirement is to comply with IPC-STD-001 but the J std doesn't specify the bake out temperature for populated boards and the moisture absortion rate. Right now we are baking the populated PWAs after aqueous wash at 80C at 18-48

I would appreciate any information concerning the wash and bake of blank Printed Circuit Boards before assembly. + Is it necessary to wash and bake PCBs before assembly? + If any, what is the reason for wash and bake of PCBs? + If any, what type of
