Do you clean the stencil manually or using the automated under-stencil cleaner on your Printer (recommended)? 1. Ensure that stencil wipes are lint-free and soaked sufficiently with solvent before use. 2. If your printer supports automated cleaning

This happens to be after the water wash process. These are Burn-In boards so an SMT epoxy is used prior to wave. The flux used is Kester 2331ZX. Would using a thinner cause this to occur? The residue is all over the board. Thanks.

Looking at the original post, it seems that the white residue is formed on the board after wave soldering and becomes evident when it has been left standing for a while. From what I understand, it seems that the solids content of the "no clean" flux

Is this after wave or wash? Its too bad the archives are gone this one has come up a bunch of times. Most of the time its caused by rosen or no clean flux being put through a water wash. There are several other possibilities. You will probably hear w

We use Kester 186 flux and the STU people would sometimes find white residue after cleaning with Isopropyl at the solder station. We have Lenium (Petroferm)in our vapor degreasers, and now they use Lenium at their stations as well as final clean, an

Dear JSK, It sounds like the root causes of your problem are two fold. First, excessive heat will polymerize the abietic acid found in rosin forming neo-abietic diamers and polymers which are much less soluble than the parent monomer. There are

Hi, The guys here have some boards that have been reworked however as we use no-clean paste we are getting the white residue after ultrasonic cleaning. We are using an alcohol based cleaner in the ultra sonic cleaner. Does anyone have any ideas, or

Grant, No-Clean paste + IPA = White Residue! #1: Stop using IPA #2: Switch to either a solvent-based de-fluxing chemical or an aqueous-based de-fluxing chemical. If you are using an ultrasonic cleaner for your boards as stated, do not use sapon

I remembered something from the TechNet a long time ago about heating the board with a heat gun to see if the white spots disappear. I searched the archives and found this from Bill Kenyon: Quick identification of solder mask white spots- if it is t
