I cleaned and re-greased everything on the Hydra head and I even changed the motor and encoder and it still gives me the timeout error Z/156. Where do I look now? My machine has been down now for 3 weeks.

So to sum up: you have no mechanical blockage, you have new motor and encoder. That leaves only two more parts(cable and Hydra Z-Controller).

Another thing you can check is where the bar comes down off of the hydra z motor there is a little bearing you can see from the front make sure that bearing is turning even oil it up a little. You can also adjust the tension by loosening the tiny set

That error means your hydra z did not reach it's specified position. With the machine on you should be able to manually push the hydra down and let it come back up. Make sure it isn't being held up or hitting anything as goes down. Lots of times a pa
