AOI vs. electrical test

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 03 15:16:53 EST 2006 | Cmiller

In circuit testing is expensive up front because of the fixture cost but the tests are fast. AOI programs can be develpoed in less than a day but take longer to run. If you have good test coverage, in circuit would be a better choice in my opinion-if

RoHS and Non-RoHS products in same ICT Fixture

Electronics Forum | Fri Mar 24 15:31:08 EDT 2017 | elrohir

I have a supplier that want to upgrade all nails on a huge amount of ICT fixture due to test RoHS compliant PCBAs. My thought is that even if there are a very small fraction of residues left on the pins it will never go over the 1000PPM level. In fu

ICT pin maintenance standard - is there any?

Electronics Forum | Fri Oct 30 06:48:19 EDT 2009 | leadthree

Is there any official or in-official in-house standard for ICT pin maintenance on volume boards? Like, how many test can or should one pin do? Currently we just change when we get contact problems. That probably after 5000 tests or so. But I guess

ICT TestJet sensor plate size?

Electronics Forum | Fri May 13 02:43:21 EDT 2016 | karts22

Hi, We have several fixtures for GenRad 228x tester and would like to change sensor plates as they are quite worn. The problem is that 3 fixtures have different plate sizes for the same IC, side length is 10-12mm. What would be the best size for sens

piercing of test vias at ICT

Electronics Forum | Thu Nov 14 09:02:46 EST 2002 | MA/NY DDave

Hi Making contact has been one reported problem, so some testers put in higher force probes that then might cause problems. If fixturing is done correctly, the OSP is done correctly, and test follows close in time after soldering little problems s

printing solder paste on test vias

Electronics Forum | Fri Aug 22 00:25:20 EDT 2003 | mantis

Kenny, Out of curisoty why do you need to paste the vias.Is it due to contact reliability at test. Can these vias not be soldered during wave process (if any). Can the Style of probe used in the ICT test fixture not be changed to accomodate these unsol

Flux residue cause high false reject at ICT

Electronics Forum | Wed Nov 29 09:25:42 EST 2006 | russ

So why are you telling us about the solder bar? What is the flux? that is what you need to change, you have a rosin based flux it sounds like. you can change probes in test fixtures or change flux chemistries. Russ

Need to clean no-clean flux?

Electronics Forum | Thu Aug 04 09:32:03 EDT 2011 | rway

No need to clean unless the sticky residue is an issue for you. If you are working with RF, it could be an issue. You may have probe contact problems as well with ICT and FT fixtures. We use a low residue flux for our wave solder machines (Kester

Multilayer Ceramic Capacitor (MLCC) failure root cause analysis

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 22 13:16:23 EDT 2012 | rway

Most likely the depaneling is not your issue, but I do concur that there is some mechanical stress occurring somewhere. What about any fixturing for FT/ICT?
