Soldermask thickness

We have a 1.6 mm thick automotive PCB board of size 35x70mm. One of our vendor has given us a batch with lesser soldermask thickness 5~8 microns. Will this affect the circuit board on a long term. What should be standard for the soldermask thickness?

Layer Stack for 6L PCB with 0.8 mm thickness

We are designing board which have to plug in M.2 connector and thickness is limited to 0.8 mm The board is very complex with many BGAs and DDR3 memory chips and we will need 6 layers for routing. The problem is that we will need signals with 50, 90

When faced with a problem like this I sometimes look at competitive products and see what they have done. You may be able to get away with 4 layers if you have the space, however if it is jammed up that will not be an option. I presume that the total

ENIG; Au < 0.5 um to avoid solder joint embrittlement

I don't recall thicknesses off the top of my head but brittleness becomes an issue more for gold plating then ENIG. .125 um should be fine. also, gold ain't cheap so its unlikely your PCB fab will get anywhere near the max tolerance. On the other e

1. We do have PCB with 0402 component, Micro BGA ( 0.5mm pitch , 0.25 mm pad size ). PCB thickness is 0.8mm. What stencil thickness we should use. PCB size 40 mm X 60 mm 2. We have EKRA E4 , What will be optimum setting for above. Pressure, Scquge s

0.5mm pitch QFP's are typically mixed with large components on all of my boards. I usually use a 6 mil stencil with a minimum aperture width of 10 mils. Normal aperture size is 10 x 50 which causes shorts about 20% of the time. A recent purchase of

I would suggest 7mm thick "Durostone" as a carrier material. Cut lip/pocket for PCB so it is 0.05" thinner than thickness of PCB. Allow 0.010" gap on all sides of PCB. Machine lip to width between 0.050" and 0.100" to support under perimeter sides

It was a nice discussion. What I did here was a thermal shock test 1 hour@ +90 deg.c and immediately 1 hour @ -40 deg.c. The second test I did was a high humudity test for a week. After each test, I carried out a peel test with scotch tape. Those bo

Volume of paste deposited with respect to board thickness

Alistair, your paste deposit is controlled by a few things: Stencil thickness Squeegee pressure Squeegee speed Print gap in 99 out of 100 applications for paste printing you would have a print gap of 0 i.e. on contact printing where the PCB is in fu
