It's nice to be able to do things in house, and it's good to have somewhere without commercial pressures to learn and make mistakes, so I can understand where you are trying to go. Those machines look a little lightweight for consistent quality pr

Just another thing to look at: Look in the archives of IPCs technet. There I found this interesting this interesting link http://www.plexus.com/In_The_News/Papers/papers.html and an interesting article (in PDF format) about "tombstoning of 0402's a

I know we paid less than that for our Juki KE-2060 and it can run the whole gambit of components...0201, QFN, microBGA... What kind of footprint are you looking for on your "small" machine and what capabilities are you looking for? What kind of pri

I’m setting up an RF and mm-wave lab in a university. My idea is to purchase a set of machines using which I can do pcb prototyping, solder pasting, picking and placing the components (the smallest footprint would be 0201), and soldering (oven). In a

Dave - I agree that the U shape for QFP's sounds a bit whacked, for the reasons you state. It may work OK for larger pitchs but then again there are a myriad of fixes that work before resorting to U shapes. With the U shape removing paste from under

Lot's of good discussion in this string...but I think we've missed a few points. First off...turret machines are more than capable of handling the smaller component sizes (in fact, they are the best)...Machines like the SANYO TCM-3000 or Universal 47

Well none of us, really know whether, this 0805 CAP is really an unsolder/tombstone defect, coz none of us verfied this with, our own eyes *duh* Funny, this only happened for us, on 0402 ~ 0201 SMD.... Check your land-pad design specifications, if
