Depending on the metal and bond to FR4 you may be able to get a better profile if you use conductive heating.(vs standard convection reflow)

Oswaldo, Your reasoning is correct, but the strange part is that Russ didn’t have a problem for years using the same flux so you would assume his fluxer is designed for low solid fluxes.

Just a thought... At that scale you might try to print paste on the devices and reflow to make bumps. That combined with your paste on the PWB might be sufficient. 'hege

I think the critical item is that you are soldering in a reduced oxy environment, lowering the rate of ongoing oxidation. Heat accelerates oxidation, lack of oxygen (of course) slows it down. The 10 Nitrogen soldering "myths" seem to be more like "
