Electronics Forum | Mon Feb 06 11:41:11 EST 2006 | slthomas

Pretty much what Russ said, with the addition that going to a major distributor's site (mouser, digikey) and searching for those marking codes might get you where you want to go quickly.

SPC for Wave solder (defects on PCB's)

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 07 11:38:50 EST 2006 | Chunks

Cal is right. SPC doesn't work at wave, period. Establishing parameters is very key for each product run. Then perhaps you can start grouping them. A WaveRider works well, but you have to use it everyday to make sure your parameters are correct.

TAL during reflow

Can someone point out what sort of defects at the joint I can expect if solder is above liquidus for 3-4 minutes rather than the typical 1 - 1.5 minutes. Voids? Grainy joints? Poor wetting? Thanks

Hi, I would say the most worrying defect would be damaged parts due to exceeding their temp specifications. Regards, Grant

Has anyone tracked solder (Paste and or Bar) over the last 5 years. My company would like to see what the trend was, but we didn't keep records since we purchase from distributors.
