We expect that CAF can form on a 2-layer as easily as a 4 layer board.

PCB ESD protection

Hi, I have to protect A small 3v battery power circuit with 2 layer PCB in plastic box against Air ESD. What is the best PCB layout for this purpose.

If I am not wrong, by reading so huge amountof infos, it seams that CAF test is justified (suggested) if the PCB has at least 4 layers. Correct? What about in case of a need to perform a CAF test ona 2 layers PCB ? Thank you Best reagrd.....GS

Mixing 2 and 4 layer designs on a single panel

The only issue is that now you are paying for a 4 layer board and only getting a 2 layer board. In the long run, it will definitely cost you if this is a higher running product. Other than that you shouldn't have any issues.

obtain XY data from solder pad gerber drawing????

PROCAM is intended to extract Centroid from the raw Gerber only. You just need to have 2 layers (paste or mask layer - to identify pads, and silk layer - for reference designators). Centroid is the output of PROCAM.

Starting point 7 zone oven profile for lead free - 2 layer simple board, but high mass electrolytics

First things first. Check the manufactures specs on the electrolytic caps as they may not be able to handle the lead free temps.

You must thermally profile your circuit boards with a data-logger and thermocouples. Just putting in oven set points and looking at solder joints is not enough. Reference IPC-7530

I tried a PCB prototype service previously called Wellpcb and was happy with the cost and lead time. From their website online PCB calculator, manufacturing 10pieces of 100 × 60mm 2 − layer PCB will cost you around $27USD.

RoHS PCB Questions

Electronics Forum | Mon Nov 19 19:14:07 EST 2007 | jmelson

I've been running 90% lead-free (still have a couple components I can't get reliably in RoHS compliance) with a peak temp of about 238 C, on standard FR-4 boards. The only real problem is the pad adherence is compromised, making rework of the boards
