RDR The most common cause of dewetting is from a fabricator using any form of abrasive (e.g. pumice, abrasive brushes etc.) on copper. With this process, abrasive particles get implanted into the copper (often actually swaging copper over some of th

John: As one of the previous replies indicated a LASER of the proper wavelength (organic materials) will do this job. Contact BEST at http://www.solder.net offline to see if this is an option you want to pursue. Other methods include labels and m

I believe it's mostly worn off through cleaning solvents and the slight abrasion during the under stencil cleaning process. I couldn't say whether or not it's ever in a state that would allow it to transfer to the PCB though.

Humiseal says, "UV cure – These materials are also more difficult to repair as they are the most chemically resistant and mechanically tough of all conformal coatings. Removal is possible locally by using powder abrasion."

out of interest, do you know what the nozzles are made of ? If you could get titanium ones then i would have thought abrasive wear shouldn't be an issue

The environment essentially defines the need for coating. "Inside" may mean inside a men's locker room with attendant high humidity or inside a climate-controlled clean environment. Conformal coatings offer protection against moisture, fungus, chemi

Thanks davef, but having worked in the metal industry for years, I was wondering how someone would actually use a water jet to cut PCBs? I know it can cut them, but all water jets use an abrasive in the water. So, this would seem a rather "dirty" p
