Hi H.K.H. OK, I'll step on this one to see what happens... What exactly is the defect? You state this SMT spring acts as a conductor between an R and C. You also state it acts as a housing shock absorber too? Just trying to understand your quest

Use a low wattage resistor. It doesnt take much to dissipate static electricity, but in a emergency hopefully the resistor could act like a fuse, burn up and go open before anyone gets zapped too bad.

I use BioAct SC-10 and it seems to work pretty well. The best bet is to contact your solder paste manufacturer and ask them for a recommended cleaning solvent for the flux residues... Regards, Justin

We are assembling BGA [Texas Instruments (TMS320C6201)] that has metal slugs in the packaging that act as heat sinks. What are your recommendations for inspecting the solder connections on such devices?

Marlies, The IPC definition, which I think we can trust, says that Coplanarity is defined as lying or acting in the same plane. In other words Coplanarity means no bent legs, pins. Regards, Chris.
