Not sure why - all I know is customer will not allow any foreign material outside of what was intended in design. These are large RF boards and maybe they are afraid this will attract contamination that will affect performance???

could there have been a solderablity issue with that pad to begin with, allowing the flux in (from improper cleaning of adjacent work) to expadite an error may have happened later down the road?

Have you tried running the machine in stepper mode (Ctrl+S). This will allow you to hold and view the machine at each stage of the placement cycle. This may help determine if it is false placement, vacuum or kiss-off. We find this useful when trying

do not forget,ROHS Directive does not allow other chemical substances (ie. PBB, PBDE,....) that could be in PCBs, so the PCB must be ROHS compliant and not only Pb Free. That means be carefully when marking PCB or PBAs. Regards..........GS
