Tarnished surface upon cleaning with DI water + saponifier

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 13 12:16:05 EST 2004 | Mike Konrad

Ashok, It is most likely not the DI water that is attacking the aluminum rather it is the saponifier. DI water is only in contact with the parts for a relatively short time. If your cleaning process provides for a rapid drying cycle, you should be

COB and Plating

Hi All, I am using COB on my DOUBLE SIDED PCB. lastly we used Eletrolytic Ni / Flash Gold Plating. Our Boards vias Failed the UL corrosion Test. we did some cross-section analysis and found 10.75 m of Nickel and 0.022 um of Gold and as the Process

Copper Core MCPCB vs. Aluminum Core MCPCB

Electronics Forum | Wed Jan 10 09:48:13 EST 2018 | mrk

Hi All, Currently we are producing a LED product using an aluminum core MCPCB with surface mount LEDs. In order to achieve better heat dissipation, we are considering transitioning over to a copper core MCPCB. My experience working with copper cor

9. * Conversion coatings are very nice "paints" that allow other paints to stick to aluminum. Type 1 coatings are thicker than Type 3, which are whisper thin. Alodine 120X (Amchem) and Iridite 14-2 (Allied Research Products) are good conversion coa

I normally handle the soldering issues for this facility but a question was asked of me -- What the H@## is this stuff and what is causing it? Was wondering of I could get some input from any Guru on plating issues. Need info ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wave solder question

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 19 19:36:21 EST 2002 | davef

You werent clear but I assume the problem is not widely distributed and affects only a few parts on each board. Do this trick: * Cut a ~1 piece of fairly serious wire, like 18 or 12 AWG. * Strip the insulation. * Gear-up with gloves, glasses, and
