Does anyone have design knowledge of why some manufacturers remove solder resist from the area around pads on fine pitch devices? What purpose does it serve? I only know that it would be better for AOI as you would not have light being reflected fro

We use a fairly simple system. IPC put out standards 7912A and 9261A to define opportunities. Basicly the "number of components" + "number of solder joints" = "number of opportunities." Some six sigma benchmarking studies indicated "Sigma Level" =

Has anyone any experience with using the latest version of this software? If so I am interested in hearing how you use it to reflect the different metrics for quality reports.

What is changing the marking on the part? * Is flux residue coating the part to change the the way light reflects from the part surface? [Run a board with tape on the part, then remove the tape prior to AOI] * Is the heat of the oven changing the mar

Good Morning, We have several Mirtec table top machines. We bought the first one when it was under the Samsung name. We had the advantage of doing a side by side comparison with several other systems. The Mirtec was the leader in performance. Since

By "dark grey color" do you mean with the histogram? Red or black maybe, but grey? Are you using a color camera? Can you use a reverse image? Does a bare unsoldered joint appear bright or reflective under red lighting? You could look for a low wh

What type of filtering are you using? Your solder inspection should be using Histogram Inspection as the Decision and red filter for preprocess. Make sure your settings are correct and check your binarized image under Histogram setup. you should s

Absence of solder is just black/super dark red which still falls under any percent I could put in there. So it passes. Maybe I'm a bit confused on how the machine checks solder in general anyway... 0%-60% is a pass by default. Thats anything dark - s
