Our Manufacturing policy regarding welds is as follows. 1) Inner layers - depends on Core thickness and line width. Our shop will not do any welding on core thickness less then 5 mils. or line width less then 5 mil. Good AOI practices reduce the a

Hi everybody, First of all, to have process under 100% control you should have AOI after every active process in the pcb assembly line : - Post printing (2D or 3D Solder paste inspection machine); - Post reflow; - Post selective(wave solder). It i

Hello Maribel, One way you justify the use of an AOI is to calculate how many defects the system will potentially detect before reflow, associate a repair cost per defect and make the calculation. For an AOI to be effective in this regard, it must sc

Most pre-reflow AOI systems today can easily keep up with production line beat rates. Pre or Post reflow AOI is the difference between process control vs. defect screening, in my opinion. Pre reflow repairs cost much less than post. Pre AOI is for

I have written software that will log inspection results from the Agilent SJ series AOI machines. It is a standalone package including graphical repair station software. There are 3 output formats. Two text formats and a direct access database write.

Thanks for your answers. What I am thinking is after reflow AOI doesn't make sense. May be it is helpful only before that - show you the problems , may be repair station or something like that. What do you think about that?

1. The jetting head flies very low to the level of the board. So, performing AOI function will crash the head. 2. AOI is performed close to the end of the line, after P&P or reflow. Are you planning to run the boards back-and-forth, on the line? 3. L

Hello , In our case we take the results from the repair station. Each test station has its own repair station so from there we count the process defects : placement and printing. The formula used to calculate PPM = DEFECTS / (PARTS PER BOARD x UNITS

Hi, We currently have 2 of these systems but use an in-house repair station tool. If you are saying that you need some drivers from the actual machine - I could maybe help you out ??
