Daan has made a valid point with regards to expertise and use of a machine. Yet I recognize that with advanced technology, trades must occur. A hghly sophisticated AOI unit can and will help reduce overall cost of production. Therefore, a need to ha

In the past year I was responsible for developing and leading a Team focused on AOI, Evaluation, Justification, and with a full ROI required, supporting a HMLV manufacturing environment. If you have in these economic times the additional resources t

Now that's an approach I've never thought of, inspecting a different portion of each board (I'm assuming that you program a few different patterns and run them sequencially, or something like that). I know our stencil printers don't provide that opti

PROMATION has recently installed several production lines this year for 48 inch long LED PCB panel production. There are solutions available from Screen Printing, Pick and Place, AOI, as well as a full line of handling solutions. www.PROMATIONUSA.com

For the ovens you run the profiler and you compare graphs. For the AOI you should run these golden boards(boards that you keep for AOI test - might have intentionally implemented defects) once in a while and make sure you are getting the same results

Just wondering who should really operate an AOI? Should it be the SMT operator or the Inspector? We are trying to run the AOI inline but Operators do not feel it is their job to do so. Just wondering how others are handling it.

In circuit testing is expensive up front because of the fixture cost but the tests are fast. AOI programs can be develpoed in less than a day but take longer to run. If you have good test coverage, in circuit would be a better choice in my opinion-if

"We are trying to run the AOI inline but Operators do not feel it is their job to do so." THAN REPLACE THE OPERATORS WITH SOMEONE WHO VALUES A JOB. Thats how I would handle that one.

We're getting our first AOI machine up and running. How are companies handling the need to check the machine's ability to catch defects at setup/changeover? It seems nearly impossible to verify that the machine is still effectively checking each of

hi guys, we just got our AOI machines and seems like everybody's excited to get them up and running. but... i want to have proper implementation of our AOI. like validation etc.. can someone share how they implemented AOI in their manufacturing pr
