hi my company is planing to purchase an aoi system to be used inline. is there anyone out there doing this, if so do you use all the machine options (pattern character recognition, bad board marks, correct part polarity...) or do you dumb it down(pa

Hi Nemo, In my factory we have an offline AOI from VISCOM for two SMT lines. It's not so easy to program, but the results are very good. Anyway you should have to think that an AOI system needs a human inspector and a technician to debug the program

We had the data at the time and it was quite high. More false calls then anything. I do not have the data anymore it since has been archived. When the system was introduced we had 1 engineer and 2 operators trained for programming and running the

Here, there are two possibilities - either it is a new board to us (ie built elsewhere previously) or it is a new product for the company requesting the build. If new to us only, ask for a sample PCB. You will need CAD data for pick & place machines

We use AOI in-line on most our SMT lines, and still getting them for the rest our lines. It has cut down on Inspection Time considerablly, justifing the cost. They do take a trained technician to program and that is a little time consuming, but worth

Our Engineering team handles all initial programming and debugging of programs on the floor, with a person "specializing" in a certain area, but with all Engineers cross-trained well enough to take on the job if need be. Technicians are responsible

Hi Evtimov and Phil, May I ask you how programming is accomplished at your side ? Do you have specific programmers dedicated to each P&P, AOI, Flying Probe, and Conformal coating machines ? Or one programmer handles programming for all machines per

Dr. Lou, Your first question is influenced by many variables. New equipment will have the first year free parts, labor and service. You may discuss a long term at time of purchase. Older equipment may (depending on maintenance) have a higher chance

Good Day! I am looking to purchase a Cyberoptics KS-Flex 18 AOI system, I have a couple of question that if you could answer, I would most appreciative. 1) Model and length of time used. Do they use AOI for all pwbs or just the more complex a

John, contemporary machines provide their own software for programming - most you can do completely offline. There are several tricks here: 1. Design libraries correctly - you should have polarity convention that matches your P&P and your AOI machi
