Ceramic BGA components on aramid pcbs

Electronics Forum | Mon Jan 03 11:33:15 EST 2000 | Zaklas, Yosef

Dear Sirs: We use BGA ceramic components in our assemblies. We would like to know if there is a technical problem of SMT assembly and reflow of these components on aramid surfaces. Yours immediate reply would be appreciated.

Hello Yosef, non woven aramid reinforced pcb's are used where is a need for low CFT (coefficient of thermal expansion). Traditionally aramid pcb's were used in military applications in order to reduce the stress/failure rate of solder joints during

Found the aramid fabric (Kevlar) on the website you suggested. Which thickness Aramid-and-Fiberglass Sheeting should I get, do I need to buy a strip as well to protect up to 600F? I was going to use PTFE-Coated Fiberglass Thread as it is rated up to

I got it from McMaster-Carr. http://www.mcmaster.com/ They have just about everything you could ever want, but I don't know about delivery to the UK. I think it cost about $40, or about 30 Euros, or about 20 British pounds. The dollar really isn'

Does anyone have information regarding: -Moisture level (wt%) that may cause delamination in PCBs. -Baking time and temperature if using a Vacuum Drying Cabinett and if using an air oven. (What Im most interested of is Poly-Imid-Aramid.) -Are ther

Daniel: In response to your questions: * Moisture level (wt%) that may cause delamination in PCBs. - Certainly, it depends, but 100% moisture will not cause delamination of a PCB. [Now, heating that water is another question, isnt it? ;-)] *

Iman When you talk about your profile, can we assume you're measuring it on the pads of LGA? Profile the solder paste reflow by placing a thermal couple under the component pad, similar to a BGA. On a slight tangent, as with soldering BGA, paste
