Yes, you can place a BGA in flux and get good reflow. However, depending on BGA type and size you should expect a yield loss due to coplanarity issues. Having the paste on the pad definately helps your yield.

We also face same problem . It is difficult to make understand pruchase & store department. They order exact qty & issue also exact qty , later stage we have to take as process loss. They always worry about small cost but never calculte production

Hi, We are having problem with yield loss due to electrical fail. Further investigation shows that the failure is due to solder bridging under BGA. Has been there any study or experience on how this could occur and what we can do to prevent it. Than

Anyone have experience with BGA mount on via hole in pad. I'm encountering about 1 to 2% yield loss due to BGA solder short. This is an entek PCB. The BGA pad size is 32 mil, and the via hole (dia. 10 mil) is at the center of the pad. Any professiona

We are experiencing widely varying First Pass Yields for selective soldering. Some boards are near 100% while others are less than 50% depending on the pitch and general complexity of the board. Question: If you are running 100 boards through your s

While the 85% yield on a per board basis seems low, we are actually running over 99% yield on a per solder joint basis as there are about 17,700 joints per panel. On average, 9 out of 63 boards in the panel need rework. Rework issues include missin

"On the average we touch up about 6 - 12% of all solder joints." Do you mean at least one joint on 6-12% of all your boards, maybe? Sorry, I can be dense....

Hi Folks, My boss has me chasing mischuck figures and I need some stats for a report. All of my machines are humming at over 99% efficiency so theres no major loss there, but still there is a huge descrepancy between stock after its been through ou

Although the following is not true capability machine assesment I feel that monioring the process at screen print, placement, reflow and wave gives results for both design and process guys to asses thire process. The project has been running since Ma

Greg, So you mean that on a Class II board with 6000 connections (in our case, the board has about 1800 parts) you would average somewhere in the neighborhood of 540 connections touched up? My gawd, man, what are you building? We'd have to hire ab
