Philips Emerald & Emerald-X is specified at max 54mm device. However I have placed 58mm devices. These machines have published accuracies at 0.02mm. Have seen as low as 0.007mm.

Hi, It should get you at least a 1997 machine, but the age isn't as critical as the UPS level - you want at least 3.2.3. They are good machines & are well built, and at least comparable with any other second user machines (although not in the Fuji/

I am going to disagree with that. Our QP242 wasn't worth a crap when it came to reliably placing BGA's. The lighting parameters and the programming will have you tearing your hair out. If you are doing outline recognition on small BGA's...then maybe.

The Fuji CP6 and QP242 should be more than capable of placing 0402(cp6) and bga components (QP242). You must be having some programming difficulties.

Have you looked into Sipad? They will pre-paste your BGA and other component areas with solderpaste that has an adhesive on it. You can then hand place your components and run through a reflow. Here's their site: http://www.sipad.com/
