I'm reworking BGA with a "SRT Summit 2000". This machine uses a nozzle of the same size of the BGA to conduct nitrogen to the top of the BGA. When I rework big PBGAs (318PBGA, 388PBGA) I've got shorts at the corners (100% of the times!). I think the

Is this a PBGA? If yes. run a flat steel rule or edge across the top of the PBGA. Is it flat or cupped? Is this a TBGA (super bga). I have seen issues with a suppliers heat spreader design that actually will deflect the corners down and raise the

Hello All, I've got a little problem here. I have a 456 ball PBGA 1mm pitch, .5mm balls, with .6mm pads on the board. given that the pad size is way to big (S/B .45mm or so)I need any and all advice on how to rework these things without shorting o

Is this problem really related to the size of the BGA OR the size/thickness of the PCB? Would I be correct in assuming that your pre-heater is small in size? Usually a board warps like this when the ramp is to great at the localized area. the imme

Years ago it was common to see 2-3mm keep out areas around BGAs. Now with boards being so densely populated there are no clearance minimums. Regardless if the machine is using convection or IR heating, parts can be reworked without affecting adjace

No can do. FPD was designed for leaded components. Nozzles and head not for BGA. No retrofit avbl either.

Thank you Wolfgang, I've found something usefull in the thread, even if unfortunately nobody talks about the design of the nozzle. About the warpage, I clearly see the warpage of the corners of the BGA. To avoid it I'll keep the temperture of the nit

Hi, I am looking for opinion about possibility to do BGA rework with SRT-FPD? This early model (before 2000) is equiped with "Variable Perimeter Heater" (VPH). For BGA rework, SRT introduced later "Summit" models with removable nozzles. I am wonderin

Hi There, I know this is a long shot but does anyone in Scotland have a 31mil nozzle for an Airvac rework station that they are willing to hire out for a short period of time? Also is there any papers or sites that can give good technical advice on B

Ersa is the choice for lower end repair and rework systems. Airvac is the choice for higher end systems. Stay away from low end hot air units. They typically do not present an even flow of heat across the component. The Ersa requires no nozzles, whic
