wave pallets

Electronics Forum | Sun Feb 22 08:23:57 EST 2009 | davef

On a wave solder pallet, we'd expect the metal parts that go through the pallet to be warmer than the pallet material, but we don't expect them to be warmer than the solder. We don't expect a well made board to blister at soldering temperature. So,

Solder wick on Ag/Pd termination

Electronics Forum | Tue Oct 23 07:03:52 EDT 2007 | davef

We're not really sure. Usually when solder leaves the pads and wicks-up a component lead, it means the component lead is much warmer than the pad on the board. This is the direction we would have taken this if we hadn't taken the AgPd / conductive e

Thermal Profiler Shield

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 01 09:31:26 EDT 2006 | marc

All data loggers will be warmer at the higher lead free temps. Only two ways around this... better thermal barriers or fans after the profile to cool it down. Some places do not allow fans on the production floor due to static electricity, in that

Solder joint issue

Hypothesis #1: We agree with Steve. You are probably seeing the nickel underplate. The gold was absorbed into the solder in portions of a second, so that you don't see it is not surprising. We're guessing that the gold was porous and allowed the n

paste quality

It is sort of a self answering question if you come in from the solder paste angle. First....start gathering data. Check every day, or every new paste jar, for: Storage conditions (temp), paste expiration date, ambient temp and humidity where yo
