Kev, I looked up records of various hollis machines with 3 preheat zones. and with progressive preheat temp. of 300 400 and 500 with a speed of 3.5ft/min the topside board temp was 120C before entering the wave. the preheat elements were infrared. W

Kev, It looks like you have a preheating powerplant and you still only get the board up to 85 Deg. This indicates that the preheating is out of calibration or the range settings might be very wide (Fex the preheat elements shut down at 500 and go ba

To be precise, the component is a Xilinx Virtex platform FPGA with 1152 balls. We also assemble some DSPs up to 1000 balls with metal cover. At best, we can remove the components but it is almost impossible to find a working solder profile using IR.

Is this a Convection Oven or IR? If convection, you can increase the air velocity in the zones if the oven has this ability. You should do as Dave has explained. If you must use pallets when reflowing your components, you need to profile in the same

Setting up a PCB washing "system" and the facilities required for a cost effective and repeatable cleaning process depend heavily on the application (water soluble versus chemistry cleaning), (batch cleaner versus ln-line) and local factors (quality

Haaaaaa!!!! You contractors get all the fun don't ya??? Consider: * Replacing the balls on the corners of the devices with balls composed of a "hard solder", yano something like 90/10. * Shimming to prevent excessive collapse of a heavy BGA during
