The one difference is that the one from my machine has a 26 flex cable and gets the 5 volts from it as well, not an external source.

The flat ribbon cable for the floppy drive is keyed and respectively, the RED STRIPE denotes pin # 1 on the Floppy Drive Connector. Do check that that is correct. As a simple test, remove the floppy drive and power up without the drive connected. D

it can be cable. can you swap cables with next driver? also swap cables on head. if same driver shows error you need new driver probably. if new driver shows error then its cables or motor. check documentation to see what motor it drives. you cant sw

I removed the ribbon cable from the FDD and edited the setting in SETUP to "NOT Installed";. Came back with 'Diskette drive failure on drive A'. on reboot. Still shows "Diskette error" on last line. Possible HDD issue? Thanks.

Hi ProcEng1, I have no clue what removable hard drive adapter you mean. I have 2.5" SSD hard drive connected directly to PC board by regular Sata cable.
