Nick...I use a pair of digital calipers with no problems. all you do is measure one lead and zero the calipers with that reading on the display. then measue across 2 leads and the number is displayed is the pitch! That's the way I do it.

We are a capacitor manufacturer. After crimping, we inspect the case length with digital calipers. The harsh environment (acid) destroys the calipers. Has anyone found chemical resistant measuring devices that will withstand this hostile environment?

If it's an NSK screw try giving them a call. Have your calipers ready.

Use calipers or "componenet datasheet" from component manufacturer. Most available on-line.

Matt, no matter how extensive the PD library you get with the different Fuji systems, you will still have to tweak some of them. But there's something you should lock in your drawer, the caliper. Why using it? The most accurate data is in the data s

Nick: I got two choices for ya: 1 Call your supplier, have 'em send ya an outline drawing, and read the pitch from the drawing. 2 Buy a vernier caliper and measure the center to center spacing of the leads. Good luck

How about: * Plastic calipers: For instance: http://www.mitutoyo.com/cat2000a/o-09.htm * Go / No go gages? We have no relationship, nor receive benefit from the company linked above.

Hi, Can somebody tell if for melf components the x and z sizes are the same? Normally they are, but the machine's vision system sees only 60-70% of the x size due to light dispersion. The Z dimension has to be the one measured with a vernier caliper?

That is what I was hoping to hear. I found one of that sort of design and I am looking into it now. No beels or whistles, just a couple of heavy duty brackets, some calipers, and a microscope. 7K seems like a good price for me.

Like SWAG said most of them are on the datasheets from the manufacturer, the hard way is to get the caliper an start measuring the component, other is the autoteach function in the machine, does your machine has that option?
