All of the above is good stuff. To add, I have seen this several times if the assembly is wavesoldered. Heat from the wave can partially reflow the top side SM solder joints and weaken them. To test, check joint strength before wave and then after

Do any of you guys have a list of parts that cannot survive hanging upside down during reflow soldering. As our board designs become increasingly dense and higher speed, we need to use all available pcb real estate. This means locating parts we hi

Dan, We, do alot of double reflow. Your right we typically see alot of the standards components, SOT's, SOIC's, Chip stuff. The largest we do with out adding epoxy is some 32pin PLCC's. We have several assemblies were were doing PLCC44's, Sockets

Is there a limit to how many times a pcb with components can be run through a reflow oven before the components start to degrade? Example: We load the SMT components on the bottom side of the pcb and run it through the reflow oven. Next we load the

Hello, I need some users information about "hot air knife" after the wave bath: - Defects reduction ? - In what kind of boards(TH/SMT SOICS ect.) it is applied ? - Where can I purchase it as a retrofit (Soltec Delta 6622cc) ?

No, not by us mere mortals but where there WML there's hope. I'm not convinced the package would like around 260C either. Disclaimer: Please note I am just a simple engineer and was not privileged enough to attend Soltec University, instead having
